Open Table is an online booking engine and mobile app that allows you to make reservations at participating restaurants with just a few clicks. You can search availability, book and confirm reservations for dining. You just create an account with Open Table, via opentable.com or downloading the app from Apple or Android app stores, and your reservation confirmations are sent to your associated email. It's a great and user-friendly way to make dining reservations.
Prior to now, select restaurants not run by Disney were available to book on Open Table, such as Boathouse, Morimoto Asia and a few others at Disney Springs or nearby non-Disney hotels. But as of today, that has all changed: Six Walt Disney World Resort restaurants are now available for booking through Open Table: Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, Boatwright’s at Port Orleans Resort Riverside, Flying Fish at BoardWalk Inn, Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian, Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and The Wave at the Contemporary Resort. Additionally, the recently updated Wind & Waves Grill restaurant at Disney's Vero Beach Resort is available to reserve through Open Table.
What does this mean for you? Well as of this post, there are no credit card guarantees required for making a dining reservation at a Disney restaurant, as well as no cancellation fee if you are a no-show. That could of course change, time will tell. It's always a good idea to familiarize yourself with Open Table's cancellation and no-show policy just in case. Another difference right now is that you cannot book 180 days in advance. The furthest out for now appears to be around 2 months. This could be a great tool for last minute plans, or for locals looking to spontaneously grab a bite. Another plus with Open Table is their Rewards Program, where you earn points for each reservation you dine at with Open Table.
