Greetings fellow Mouse Fans!
School's out for summer! Well, thanks to Hurricane Sandy, many of us here in the Northeast have at least a few more days. But for most of the country summer's here and it's vacation time!
Which means it is time for my annual summer safety reminders. Here are my tips for staying "cool" at Disney during the busy summer months!
– Sunblock! Remember that guy in "Lilo & Stitch"? The one with the bright red sunburn and the outline of where his tank top was? Yeah, don't be that guy. Sunblock is essential for everyone – kids and adults alike. Apply early, apply often, apply enough!
– H2O! Florida heat in summertime can make you Goofy. Make sure to stay hydrated with frequent water breaks. Also take advantage of your resort's pool!
– Rest & Shade! Take advantage of the many benches and shady spots hidden amongst the hustle and bustle of the theme parks. Not to mention the many air-conditioned attractions in every park. (Impressions de France in Epcot is a great one for a nap, I mean rest.)
– Crowd control. It is the busy season at Disney parks and there are times when it can seem like wall to wall people. Go early, go late is my best advice! Rise and shine and be at the parks when they open to make the most of the cooler morning hours before the mercury starts to rise. Take a mid-day break, then return to the parks once it starts to cool down. And use a crowd calendar such as TouringPlans.com to plan your days! This will help you to avoid the parks with the highest predicted crowd levels.
Be well and make magic wherever you go this summer!
