Greetings fellow Mouse Fans!
One of my favorite memories is of a Christmas morning when my mother said, "Let’s go to Walt Disney World!" No, she did not have a trip planned. She got on the phone, booked a room and plane tickets and we flew out the next day for a completely impulsive vacation. I remember it being very crowded but mainly what I remember is the exhilaration of the last minute trip.
Now the thought of a last minute trip may cause a gasp of horror to the uber-planners among us but I assure you – it can be done! It’s all about having what the famous Beci Mahnken calls, "the appropriate level of expectation." When planning a last minute trip there are going to be inevitable limitations – limited room availability, a lack of available dining reservations, etc. Having a laidback attitude is key to enjoying a last minute trip!
A recent client booking this kind of trip (contacted me on a Thursday to leave on a Sunday during Spring Break!) said the magic words to me, "All I want is to be at WDW. If I eat counter service for three days, so be it!" We did manage to sneak a character meal or two in there, but they had a wonderful time and know that they will be back again to explore at a more leisurely pace. Attitude is everything!
So don’t be afraid! Contact your travel planner and see what may be available for your spur of the moment excursion.
Be well and make magic wherever you go!
