Greetings fellow Mouse Fans!
For years now, I have been flipping on the TV in my resort room and watching the beautiful Stacey Aswad tell me about "Must Do Disney." I have been telling my clients to create a list of everyone's "Must Do" tems when planning their Disney vacations. So I am as guilty of today's topic as anyone else…
Maybe it's age, maybe it's experience, maybe it's that I am lucky enough to travel to Disney destinations regularly but my perspective has changed on "Must Do" items. I'd like to propose a somewhat radical idea – let's change "Must Dos" to "Hope Tos"!
Using an imperative like "Must" automatically puts pressure on something. The definition of must as a verb is "be obliged to." No waffling with that! So what happens when your "Must Dos" fall through? Whether it is due to an attraction being down for rehab, poor weather, long lines, or lack of time, if you miss out on something that was on your "Must Do" list, disappointment is inevitable.
But what if instead of a "Must Do" list, you had a "Hope To" list? Just the changing of a phrase can change the tone of a trip. After all – you are on vacation! If there is one time when it should be alright NOT to do everything on your list, it is on vacation. So if you miss something on your "Hope To" list – it's ok! You'll get it next time. And maybe you will be better able to focus on what you DID get to do!
Be well and make magic wherever you go!
