Greetings fellow Mouse Fans!
Let me be clear – school is important. Education is important. But so is family and making time for family activities. When making the decision whether or not to take your child out of school, consider the value that your family puts on time together. (Remember – there is no right or wrong answer here!) For some families, the savings offered when kids are in school combined with the weight they give to family time means they can live with the children missing a day or two or seven. For other families, the value they place on school and attendance means that it is worth it to them to pay more for a summer vacation! It’s a formula every family needs to complete themselves.
For me, I know there is going to come a day when I take Ryan out of school for a trip to Disney. I’ll do everything possible to minimize it’s effect on his education but I already know the choice I will likely make some day. I want Ryan to remember the times we spent together. I guarantee that he will remember our May 2009 trip to Walt Disney World much longer and much more fondly than he would have remembered what he did in class on those days.
Tomorrow: Can a Disney trip be educational? You betcha!
Be well and make magic wherever you go!
