It all started 80 years ago today with a mouse!!! Yep Mickey is 80, but if you ask me he doesn’t look a day over 30.
I am sure Mickey has his birthday traditions and I have some of my own too. I am a scorpio like Mickey and just celebrated my birthday recently. Sicne I moved to Fl I have made some new birthday traditions which of course include going to the Magic Kingdom. This year i was only able to squeeze in a couple hours in the park but still got in most of my traditions. First thing I do is head to City Hall to get the Its My Birthday Pin. After that I head over to say HI to Roy and Minnie.
This was the first birthday since i moved here that the Magic Kingdom wasn’t all decorated for the holidays already (notice the garland that goes accross the street isnt up yet and the big tree wasn’t either.) Yes I used to think oh man they have the holiday stuff up already just a week after Halloween, but it had become a tradittion for me to get my birthday photo by the tree so I was a lilttle bummed that it wasn’t up yet. So on to my next birthday tradition – Dole Whip, of coruse! Another first – I had to pay for my birthday Dole Whip. It’s not that I expect Disney to give me things for free on my birthday (at least not until next year) but every year it had been so it was a little dissappointing. I also noticed as the day went on that I got a lot less "Happy Birthdays" from Cast Members, and only once did a Cast Member use my name when they said it. I guess they are saving up for the Year of Celebrations that kicks off in just a few weeks. Oh well I guess I can’t complain too much since I am lucky enough to at least get to go to the Magic Kingdom on my birthday and know I will be back again next year to cash in on the year of Celebrations deal. This year 3 was the magic number for me so I just had to ride the 3 Mountians! Lines were a little long so that was about all we could squeeze in before my other tradition of walking down Main St watching Wishes while I go into a store and buy myself a birthday gift. I just love treating myself to something I might not usually buy on a normal day. I hope Mickey’s big day was just as wonderful as mine!
